About 180km north of Edmonton and 5km north of the hamlet of Flatbush lies the Flatbush 5 Conservation Site. The Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) has been working to restore the site’s native biodiversity, increase ecological connectivity and increase carbon sequestration. The ACA has partnered with Project Forest to rewild 41 hectares within the Site.
To begin the rewilding efforts, ACA has retained Tree Time Services for project planning, project management and field implementation. As part of the re-wilding efforts, the project area has been assessed, seedlings have been prescribed, annual monitoring program assessments will be completed, and final monitoring assessment anticipated to be completed in 2029.
